A place where grace is the starting point, family is the model,
and belonging is the goal.
Kingsport, Tennessee
No building. No crowd. Just real people in real life.
Oikos Church is not one building with a pastor speaking to a crowd. We know that's probably what comes to mind when you hear "church" — and that's okay.
These are the heartbeat of Oikos Church. Small groups of people — maybe 8 or 10 — meeting in someone's living room or a coffee shop. Talking, sharing, eating together. This is where belonging actually gets built, and where real community happens.
Weekly house churches are where most of the life of this church actually takes place. It's participatory — you're not watching from a seat, you're part of the conversation.

Once a month, all the house churches come together as one. We call it the Gathering — it's a chance to celebrate together, worship as a whole church family, and see the bigger picture of what God is doing through this network of people.
We hold it at Warriors Path Park in the community building on Duck Island. This gathering is a great way to see what Oikos Church is all about. This informal gathering of all our house churches gives us a chance to come together and celebrate the things God is doing throughout our community.

It's Greek for extended household — the 8–15 people already in your life (friends, family, co-workers, classmates, neighbors) that you can experience & share Jesus' love with.
Most of us are looking for real connection — genuine Family, people who show up for each other. The Oikos idea is simple: what if loving your neighbor (literally) was the whole point? That's the Grace in it. No program required.
Think about the people already in your orbit — your coworker who's going through a hard season, the neighbor you wave to every morning, a classmate who could use a real friend. That's your Oikos. That's where Community happens, not in a building somewhere.
Oikos Church is built on this idea: "the world you're called to change can fit in a living room"
A non-denominational church in Kingsport, TN — built around the idea that real family and belonging happen in everyday life, not just inside a building.
Vision
We envision a world changed from within by sharing the Gospel, meeting needs, and making disciples.
Mission
Raise and release followers of Jesus to reach their Oikos and disciple them to do the same.
Four values that shape how we live in community and show up for one another.
Not rules. Not performance. Just an honest relationship with the God who has created you. In His great plan, He desires to know us and to be known by us.
In the big moments and the ordinary ones — the way we treat people, show up for each other, and live our lives.
Whether it's in family, friendships, church, work, or anywhere else, we believe God has called us to healthy relationships and community.
We believe God has called us to a life of action. We will collectively pursue that action and in doing so, make Jesus famous in our communities.
That's okay. This is built for people like you.
Maybe you were judged, excluded, or just made to feel like you didn't measure up. We get it — and we're genuinely sorry that happened. There's no performance required here, no dress code for your soul. Just grace, and people trying to figure out life together.
Maybe church felt like a show you watched from the back row and then forgot about. Oikos is built differently. It's not a crowd you blend into — it's a small group of real people who'll actually notice when you're not there, because you genuinely matter to them.
Totally fine — a lot of people here were in exactly that spot. No assumed vocabulary, no insider handshakes, no weird expectations. If you're just curious about community, belonging, and what following Jesus could look like in real everyday life, you're in the right place.
"It would be impossible to get lost in our church, and we built it that way on purpose."
Whether you're carrying questions, doubts, or just a little skepticism — you're welcome exactly as you are. We believe belonging comes before having it all figured out, and that grace is always the starting point.
We'd love to hear from you — no pressure, no commitment required.
Fair ones, too. Here's what finding Belonging at Oikos Church actually looks like.
